Dr. Astrid Rosa Velez
Dr. Astrid Rosa Velez was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She first became interested in medicine as a child after seeing her mother and aunties taking care of an ill elderly family member. At that time, she believed that by becoming a physician she was going to be able to completely heal them.
She attended Pontificial Catholic University of Puerto Rico to complete her pre-med degree. Afterwards, she attended Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico for her medical training. Her experiences in medical school led her to complete the Family Medicine Residency Program in Mayaguez Medical Center, Dr. Ramon E. Betances. Currently, Dr. Rosa holds a certification from the American Board Family Medicine.
Dr. Astrid Rosa enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and crafting art. She is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Rosa is known for her dedication, honesty, and empathy. She hopes to help improve patient outcome by cultivating communication and patient engagement, and individualizing patient needs and
priorities.
